This year’s musical performer at the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, is generating significant buzz. Circuit of the Americas (COTA) is offering to buy back ’early bird’ tickets from buyers and pay an additional $50 to ticket holders. The Grand Prix typically features musical performances before the race, and this year’s artist selection is expected to be a high-profile one. COTA believes they can resell tickets at higher prices than the initial $299 fee, leading to potential increased profits. The identity of the musical guest has not been revealed yet. COTA will announce the entertainment lineup on April 29, and early bird buyers have until May 6 to avail of the buyback offer for $350. However, some fans have criticized COTA, arguing that they could sell their tickets through third-party platforms for a higher profit. Despite the backlash, COTA’s founding partner expects the price of the buyback offer to go up. COTA sold over 10,000 early bird general admission passes, and the remaining general admission tickets to be released after the artist announcement will be priced below $400. The Formula 1 United States Grand Prix will take place from October 18-20. General admission seating, while one of the more affordable options, is a stark contrast to the luxurious private suites and club seats available for higher prices.
